2012 Call for Papers
The Southern Jewish Historical Society will hold its annual conference in Asheville NC, from October 18-21, 2012. The conference's theme will be Mountain Jews: Creating Community in Appalachia. The SJHS Conference Program Committee is now soliciting papers for panels and lectures. Deadline is February 15, 2012. Suggested topics include Jewish involvement with peddling, mercantile experiences, arts and artisan communities, commercial networks, religious developments,summer camping, cultural accommodation, Black Mountain College, Zebulon Vance, Thomas Wolfe, or other topics of regional interest.
