Membership

In 1976, the year of the American Bicentennial celebration, a conference on Southern Jewish History was held in Richmond, Virginia. Participants at that conference were so stimulated that they decided to revitalize a long dormant organization. The present Southern Jewish Historical Society was established.

Membership in The Southern Jewish Historical Society is open to any person and organization interested in its purposes. The major source of funds for the Society is membership dues. Contributions to the Society are tax deductible within the limits of the law.

Memberships run from January 1 to December 31 each year.  New memberships that join from October 1 to December 31 run through the following year.
